Freeze Frame is the photographic negative collections of the Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge are a unique resource but also an extremely fragile one.
Through Freeze Frame the Institute presents some 20,000 images from these collections covering Arctic and Antarctic expeditions from 1845 to 1985.
- CONSERVE: Preserving the images for future generations.
- DIGITISE: Providing access to some of the most important visual resources for research into British polar exploration.
- EXPLORE: Discover polar environments through the eyes of those explorers and scientists who dared to go into the last great wildernesses on earth.
We were responsible for deisgning the Freeze Frame logo which represents the positive and negative photographic processes and reflects the contrast of the collection. We also designed a custom WordPress theme and worked with developers in the Univeristy of Cambridge who were responsible for interfacing with SPRI’s cataloguing system.
